Creating the Joy Part 2

Joy is something that we have to constantly infuse in our lives. Since the human brain is not wired to be happy part of our job and habits is to be conscious of the joys and blessings in our lives.

Every day we are faced with situations that we can interpret as blessings. Likewise, every day we are faced with situations that can ruin our day. For example, minute by minute, I can lament everything that I can’t do. My disability makes most activities exponentially more challenging. Activities such as eating, typing, using my phone, using the restroom, and getting around are taxing. Everything would be easier if I didn’t have a stupid little disability. Even the blessings in my life would be so much better if I could do what others do. In the past, I used to spend countless hours wondering about how my life would play out if I were not disabled.

I am learning how to as Brendon Burchard says, “honor the struggle and "bring the joy into my life. This does not mean that I don’t get frustrated or sad. This means that I’m consciously aware of my emotions and understand that, ultimately, I’m in charge of my joy and my happiness.

Every day you are faced with situations. You encounter long lines. You encounter traffic.  You encounter rude waiters. You have to deal with people at your job. You have to deal with situations throughout your day. There is reality and your reaction to reality.  Although there are going to be many situations that don’t require joy, it’s up to you to bring joy to your life. If you have a bad day, call somebody that can make you laugh. If somebody is flippant with you, don’t take it personally. If you have a constant struggle, understand that struggle. If it is properly dealt with, then it will give you the tools to have joy in your life.

We are faced with negative emotions and positive emotions every day. I am faced with the challenges that my body presents as well as all the blessings in my life. A component to an amazing life is to bring joy and happiness into your life. It’s a choice.

Summary:

One of the most important components to amazing success is honoring the struggles you face. It is important to give yourself time and space to work through those obstacles in a positive way so that you can continue on to your goals.
