Serve Your Way to Success
It’s great to have ambition. If you want to be successful, you must create a strong desire to succeed. You do this by creating a clear picture of what you want and how you get there.
A big part of success is just being aware of that aspirations and the challenges of the people in your environment and society as a whole.
If you want to do more and live better, then it is imperative that you learn to be of use to others. Being of service to others and understanding their needs, wants, and desires is the path to success.
Unfortunately, many people act in the opposite manner. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter without any regard to the consequecnes for other people. One of my favorite all-time quotes is from the late Zig Ziglar, “if you help people get what they want, they will do anything to help you get what you want.”
Out of college, I wanted to write an autobiography. I was hoping the book would be a springboard to some kind of career, but I did not know exactly what. After, a couple of drafts, something did not feel quite right.
At that time I was working with a mentor who was guiding me on my journey to become a motivational speaker, and I had some notes that I was working on. I decided to put my autobiograpghy aside and write a little self-help book. This time, instead of writing about being disabled, I decided to write about acheving success and reference my disability to strengthen my teaching points.
I have been doing this ever since. Whenever I write something, I always make sure I convey meaningful and impactful lessons to the reader. It is my mission to inspire others and provide useful information. It is my hope that my writings nurture the mind and spirit and are not simply junk food.
It is important to always go after your goals while at the same time helping other people. So often we think of life as a sporting event with well-defined winners and losers. Much of life is not that way at all. Life is doing your part to increase the possibilities for those in your immediate influence and society.
