The Productivity Formula You’ve Never Tried

Oftentimes we have trouble achieving our goals. We continue our lives, maintaining the status quo and tending to our obligations. Taking on new goals is often challenging because we are unsure of what to do and how to accomplish our goals. It’s not that we are unwilling to work hard; it’s that we don’t have the proper framework to work toward our goals. There are three factors you need to accomplish your goals.

To achieve our goals, we need the right motivation, the right plan, and the right execution. In other words, you need the true purpose, the right plan, and the right production. This is my framework for productivity. It’s crucial to synch all three. You don’t want your goals to be wishes.

Purpose

The Right Motivation

We all need the right motivation to achieve our goals. The stronger the motivation, the more likely you are to pursue your goals. Unfortunately, motivation will get you going, and you need the motivation to keep you going. Motivation is like shade underneath a tree. Sometimes, it’s there, and sometimes it’s not.

Plan

The Right Plan

Also, every goal requires action that needs to be performed consistently. There is also a step-by-step process that needs to be executed. If you want to lose weight, you want to exercise and eat healthy food. If you want to improve your marriage, you might have to listen more, argue less, flirt more, and take other actions. If you want to grow a company, you must perform a whole host of tasks that need to be executed. The problem is that there is no perfect plan, and it can take a lot of trial and error to find a plan that works for you.

Produce

The Right Execution

You can be highly motivated and productive, but it will all go to waste if you are not consistently executing. Most of your time and energy needs to be used to work on your goals actively. A writer needs to put words on paper. If you want to lose weight, you need to work out in the gym and not gossiping with friends. Unfortunately, we let life get in the way. We skip that workout because we want to go hang out with friends. We don’t write because we make the excuse that we don’t have enough ideas. We avoid tough conversations with our significant other because we don’t want to feel uncomfortable or make the other person uncomfortable. The bottom line is working on your goals is not always fun and emotionally rewarding, but once we successfully achieve our goals, we feel satisfied.

A host of factors can kill our dreams even before we start. We make excuses, and even worse, we have people in our lives who make excuses for us. The human brain is very defensive. It likes to keep us exactly where we are. It does not like change. If we are not careful and don’t fight for our goals and our dreams, then nobody will.

Unfortunately, most people don’t take control of their destiny. They are waiting for something or someone to make everything better.
